MIlo Crown won first place during the Honolulu Woodturners Association's Embellishment Competition.
This was an idea that came to me when I saw an angled piece of log. I decided to leave the angle and hollow out the middle. The result was a protruding collar that flared out at the opening and blended into the bowl. It transitioned smoothly from opening to collar. I finished this piece with a flared lid that could be spun a 180˚ to alter the focal point between the bowl or the crown.
